The construction of a beautiful two-storeyed timber home in Balnarring, just South of Melbourne, required a balance between traditional timber fittings and modern detailing.

Construction By Law achieved this balance superbly in a home that reflects both country-style aesthetics and modern functionality. Sweeping verandahs , gabled roofing and cabinetry with traditional detailing combine beautifully with polished macrocarpa wooden floors throughout, stunning lighting and marble bench tops.

The brief for the bathrooms was reasonably broad – “big” had been specified - and given leeway to explore high-end shower system options, Doug Law and his construction team proposed to their clients the Atlantis shower system.

The two bathrooms were upstairs and required a shower system that would provide guaranteed water-proofing and ease of installation on a wooden floor. A large double shower with room to easily fit two adults was installed in the master bathroom. The two shower heads not only catered to early morning rush-hour – allowing two people to shower at one time – but also provided a space that was more attune to a spa retreat. White floor-to-ceiling tiles featured on the surrounding bathroom walls, chequered black and white floor tiles provided visual impact and emphasis on design. The second bathroom catered to the children and likewise used white wall tiling and dramatic chequered floor tiles to draw emphasis to the pristine, frameless glass shower unit.

Law said “installation was a piece of cake” and the instructions enclosed with the system provided “fool-proof instruction”. “Everything could be done in one hit”. Their decision to use Atlantis had been justified. Convenience and ease of installation were major factors – the systems were complete shower solutions that could be installed directly by the builder saving both time and hassle. There was no need for different contractors to be involved.

The Atlantis systems were perfect for the Balnarring home according to Law. They were an easy way of creating level-entry showers on timber floors. Creating an in-situ shower base and the use of frameless screens were both features that would further add a sleek modern touch to the owner’s home.

Asked if they would consider Atlantis for their next job, Law was adamant: “without a doubt!”
